Beastmaker

At Beastmaker they are big into sustainability.

They only use FSC certified North American tulip wood (Liriodendron tulipifera) to make their fingerboards. This is a common tree of the eastern United States and not to be confused with Brazilian Tulipwood which isn’t very sustainable! FSC stands for Forestry Stewardship Council – these guys will only certify wood if it has come from a responsibly managed forest, or in their own words, only if the forest is managed in an “environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial and economically viable manner”. They also try to recycle as much as they possibly can in the workshop and they package the fingerboards in recyclable cardboard to help you guys to do the same at the other end (which we hope you do?) Unfortunately, running their workshop and machinery 5 days a week takes a lot of energy. They get all their electricity from 100% renewable sources (mostly wind farms) which is pretty cool. Without sounding too much like a bunch of hippies, the planet is looking pretty fragile these days and they are trying to do their bit (albeit a very, very small bit) to help slow it’s demise. After all there’s no point having strong fingers if all the rocks are underwater…
